Top 5 Lessons learnt from FIFA World Cup 2014

Published on July 11, 2014

In my views, Life’s closest comparison is a Game. A perfect blend of excitement and tiresomeness, winning and losing, joy and sadness, falling and rising and so many countless instances. Recently we are all taking dives of such swings of FIFA World Cup 2014. With all those moves and swings, each game is bringing up lessons of personal and professional life for us. I am serving my top 5 learnings here.

1. Well planning is half battle won

Out of 196 countries in the world (Taiwan is not considered an official country by many, which would bring the count down to 195) there are only 32 countries are qualified for FIFA 2014. It’s not that other countries do not take interest in this energetic game but many are too far to reach till here. Precise planning and roadmap plays a very important here. Only enjoying and playing the game for refreshing will not open exciting doors, but it takes efforts to do this. Be determined – work on defining strategies – convert them into goals – stick to your goals – think far – plan well and half of your battle is won!

2. Mentorship matters

Have you observed mentorship of Argentinian coach Alejandro Sabella while the game is ON? Maximum excitement for victory is seen on his face, highest tension level is observed on his face while the game is on, he uses every second of break time for individual and team advice, he shows maximum resistance against penalty card decision and he’s the person transforming the dream, the energy, the sprit, the views and the roadmaps with highest level of magnitude which matters the most for players.
For your personal lives and professional carriers, smart mentoring will bring up a remarkable difference for your achievements.

3. Together we can make a difference

It’s not only the goal scorers or goalkeepers that bring the victory. Contribution of every pass, every protect and every kick counts for that goal. James Rodríguez or Thomas Müller hitting highest number goals are front players of the match but they correctly appreciate support of their co-players. Exciting results can only be achieved if everyone in the team performs their best and only focus on the ultimate goal of team’s winning.

4. Confidence is the key

While I am writing this article, FIFA 2014 Finals between Argentina and Germany is yet to be played tomorrow. We are excitedly waiting for the results and confidence of both the teams will play an important role. Thomas Müller stated after Argentina’s entry as finalists that he has never lost against the team including Lionel Messi! Let’s wait till the results for commenting anything further here but such confidence is very important for maintaining the power, positivity stamina and attitude for the team.
Your own confidence for yourself is the key for your pursuing for your personal goals or career assignments. This can bring miracles for you – Try it!

5. Talent may lose sometime

History says that when there is no result till extra time and penalty shootout is played, maximum number of times talented team loose! We saw one penalty shootout game where Oranges were defeated by Argentinians. Though both the teams had shown their best performance so far and I am not saying that the best team has won but it’s not that Netherlands is downgraded than Argentina. But they were penalty shootout miss by Ron Vlaar and Wesley Sneijder that dropped Oranges one step behind then finals!

Everyone must be facing similar instances multiple times in life. Accept it. Retry for it. Retry with stronger attempt. And you will surely see the results that you wish to see.
